The only association in Japan dedicated in the inspection and testing paint and its quality

Japan Paint Inspection and testing Association (JPIA) has been established on August 27,1955, approved by Minister of International Trade and Industry. We always contribute to the development of environmentally friendly society to meet customer needs by providing highly reliable data, as a fair and neutral third-party testing organization specializing in testing and inspection for paint and its quality performances

  • JPIA was registered by National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) as JNLA Accredited Testing Laboratory based on the Japan Industrial Standardization Law.
  • JNLA stands for the Japan National Laboratory Accreditation System which refers to a testing laboratory accreditation system based on the JIS Law.
  • ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation cooperation) / MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement) is a further step forwards to an international One-Stop-Testing which means results tested once are valid worldwide.

JPIA can issue a test certificate with a special JNLA symbol described in above figure under this program.

1955 Incorporated upon its founding as the Paint Inspection Association
1957 Name changed to the Japan Paint Inspection and testing Association
1958 Opening of the Head Inspection Office (presently East Branch Office)
1961 Opening of the Osaka Branch Inspection Office (presently West Branch Office)
1962 Inauguration of the Paint Testing Methods Research Committee
1976 Registered as Certified Organization for Concentration Measurement (West Branch Office)
1976 Designated by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as public testing organization for weathering of coatings based on the Industrial Standardization Law
1976 Registered as Water Quality Inspection for Buildings’ Potable Water (East Branch Office)
1978 Designated as Inspection Organization for Quality Certification by the Japan Housing Development Corporation
1981 Certified by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as designated testing organization based on the Industrial standardization Law(public notices)
1991 Beginning of operation as Domestic Advisory Board and Business Bureau for ISO/TC35/ SC9 Paint Testing Methods
1992 Registered as designated testing organization for the application of general rules in equivalence for fire resistant materials both by Japan Paint Industrial Association and Japan Construction Materials Industrial Association certified by the Ministry of Construction
1994 Opening of weathering test site at Omaezaki, Shizuoka, Japan
1998 Designated by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as inspection organization based on the Industrial standardization Law
